Green areas at the Hotel Josef in Old Town
FOR A TRANQUIL HOTEL, SITUATED JUST A SHORT DISTANCE FROM OLD TOWN SQUARE, RENOWNED FOR ITS CLEAN, ELEGANT, MODERN INTERIORS BY ARCHITECT EVA JIŘIČNÁ, STUDIO PARTERRE DESIGNED GREENERY FOR THE SPACES OF THE LARGE AND SMALL COURTYARDS AND ROOFS WITHIN THE INNER BLOCK.
THIS PROJECT WAS COMPLETED IN SPRING 2023.
A COMPLEX OF TWO COZY ENCLOSED GARDENS WAS BUILT. THE SO-CALLED ATRIUM IN THE SHADED AREA IS DOMINATED BY JUNIPERS AND FERNS, ALONG WITH SHADE-TOLERANT PERENNIALS. THE MAIN GARDEN, WHICH IS ALSO USED FOR OUTDOOR SITTING NEAR THE RESTAURANT, IS DOMINATED BY ORNAMENTAL MAPLES AND GRASSES, THE PLANTING OF WHICH EVOQUES THE LOCKS OF HAIR IN THE PAINTINGS OF ALFONS MUCHA.
THE ROOFS, VISIBLE FROM THE HOTEL ROOMS, ARE ADORNED WITH A VARIETY OF SEDUMS AND SEMPERVIVUMS. THE LINES OF ALL THE PLANTING CONTAIN EACH OTHER AND CREATE AN IMPRESSIVE IMPRESSION WHEN VIEWED FROM A BIRD'S PERSPECTIVE.
IN TOTAL, 34 SHRUBS, 2.727 PERENNIALS, AND 3.051 BULBS WERE PLANTED HERE.
